ABOUT ME

 Hey, I’m Drew Vanderhyde — founder of SLAYETTOS.

I’ve been dancing for 13 years, with nearly 7 of those devoted to the art of heels. Originally from sunny Los Angeles, I now live in Scotland with my husband, where I’m proud to keep building a community that moves with power and purpose.

Along the way, I’ve performed on live TV in Hairspray Live!, danced across the globe with Celebrity Cruises, and trained under heels legends like Brinn Nicole, ZONTA, LARKE, and Nicole Kirkland — each of whom taught me to bring nothing less than my full self to the floor.

SLAYETTOS was born from that same fire — and it’s here to help you find yours.

 I’m incredibly grateful for the training I received in Los Angeles — it shaped so much of who I am as a dancer.
But as a 6-foot, non-binary, queer person, I often felt like I didn’t quite belong in the spaces I loved most.

Heels classes were powerful, but the rooms were usually centered around cisgender women — and that left me feeling like an outsider. When I joined male groups, I felt out of place. When I danced with the women, I was often seen as just “a man in heels.” And when no one used gender-affirming language, it made me feel invisible — like my identity didn’t fully exist in the room.

That experience is one of the reasons I created SLAYETTOS — to build a space where no one has to feel that way again.

 SLAYETTOS was born from my deep love for heels and an even deeper belief in what dance spaces should be.

I created this class with one mission: to make sure everyone feels seen, celebrated, and safe to show up exactly as they are. No exceptions.

At SLAYETTOS, we honour every identity — your gender, sexuality, race, and body are never just accepted, they’re respected and uplifted. This is more than a class — it’s a space to unleash your power, find your people, and move like you mean it.
